Please join EBLC’s Health Task Force for an analysis of the results of Contra Costa County’s Measure B from the June 2026 primary election. The measure, which proposed a five-year, 0.625% countywide sales tax to help address growing financial pressures on the county’s health care system, ultimately failed to secure voter approval. We will take a closer look at voter turnout, geographic voting patterns, and the factors that may have influenced the outcome.
As Contra Costa County continues to face significant health care funding challenges, understanding these results can help inform future efforts to secure sustainable funding for essential services. The discussion will explore what the election results suggest about public support for local tax measures, the prospects for similar proposals in future elections, and what alternative approaches may be needed to ensure the long-term financial stability of the county’s health care system.
