SUMMARY:Health Task Force
DESCRIPTION:Please join EBLC's Health Task Force for an analysis of the results of Contra Costa County's Measure B from the June 2026 primary election. The measure\, which proposed a five-year\, 0.625% countywide sales tax to help address growing financial pressures on the county's health care system\, ultimately failed to secure voter approval. We will take a closer look at voter turnout\, geographic voting patterns\, and the factors that may have influenced the outcome.\n\nAs Contra Costa County continues to face significant health care funding challenges\, understanding these results can help inform future efforts to secure sustainable funding for essential services. The discussion will explore what the election results suggest about public support for local tax measures\, the prospects for similar proposals in future elections\, and what alternative approaches may be needed to ensure the long-term financial stability of the county's health care system.\n\nOUR SPEAKER\n\n\n\nShane Reisman is a strategy and operations consultant and the Founder and COO of theregional.io\, a local public affairs and issue advocacy firm. He started theregional.io to partner with East Bay businesses and organizations to advance regional housing\, urban development\, and social wellness initiatives and create lasting change in the Bay Area. Shane has served as a legislative liaison for Senator Dianne Feinstein as well as in the Democratic National Committee Press office supporting national and California policy priorities. He has also worked in Congressional research and analyst roles at political media and lobbying firms in Washington\, DC. Shane graduated from EBLC's Build the Bench program in 2025 and holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a B.A. in Public Policy Analysis from UC Irvine.\n\nMEETING AGENDA\n\n2:00 PM Welcome and Introductions\, Rebecca Rozen\n\n2:02 PM Chair Update\, Rebecca Rozen\n\n2:06 PM Policy Director Update\, Meg Stern\n\n2:10 PM Measure B Presentation\, Shane Reisman\n\n2:55 PM Member Updates\, All\n\n3:00 PM Adjourn\, Rebecca Rozen\n\nThe East Bay Leadership Council is an employer-led membership organization on a mission to improve the economy and quality of life in the East Bay through policy advocacy.
