The Water Task Force is pleased to announce the third and final set of speakers focused on the flow setting process being implemented by the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) for the San Francisco Bay Delta. The goal of the Water Task Force three part Bay-Delta series is to educate our members on this important process and provide stakeholder perspectives. In March we received a presentation from Felicia Marcus, former Chair of the State Water Resources Control Board. Ms. Marcus provided an overview of the flow setting process and how that fits into the state’s approach to water management. That was followed by presentations made in April by EBMUD General Manager Alex Coate and Deputy General Manager of SFPUC, Michael Carlin. They presented the anticipated impacts of the Bay-Delta flow setting standards from the Bay Area water user perspective. All three presentations can be found here. The final set of speakers Doug Obegi and Joan Buchanan will focus on the anticipated impacts of the flow setting on the environment and fisheries.
We encourage attendance and interaction with the speakers who are playing very important roles in the process. According to the SWRCB website Fact Sheet “The two Bay-Delta Plan updates are part of a delicate balancing act – addressing an ecological crisis in the watershed and preventing further collapse of Bay-Delta fisheries while acknowledging the other vital water uses for millions of Californians.” For more information: click here.
