Water Task Force Meeting
On April 21st the EBLC Water Task Force will be diving into groundwater. Join us as we discuss how water and wastewater agencies can support compliance with the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). SGMA requires governments and water agencies of high and medium priority basins to halt overdraft and bring groundwater basins into balanced levels of pumping and recharge.
About Our Speakers:
Christy Kennedy, PE, PG, CHG is a Senior Hydrogeologist and Water Resources Engineer at Woodard & Curran. She has built a technical background in multiple facets of groundwater resources over the last 19 years and currently leads SGMA projects along with water supply planning projects with a focus on recharge and water reuse. In her daily work, Christy supports strategic planning for water agencies across California, and enjoys most the goal- and objective-setting, as well as measuring progress on these plans. Christy is also on the Board of Directors for the Groundwater Resources Association of California and leads GRA’s events and education arm directing programming including the five yearly groundwater technical conferences and monthly GRA webinars.
Leslie Dumas, PE, D.WRE is a Senior Technical Lead and the Groundwater Sustainability Lead at Woodard & Curran. Leslie is an engineer with a groundwater specialty; she holds a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on surface and groundwater hydrology from the University of California at Berkeley, and is credentialed as a California-licensed Professional Engineer, Diplomate of Water Resources from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and a Certified Groundwater Professional under the National Groundwater Association (NGWA). Over her almost 15 year of experience, she has prepared Integrated Regional Water Management Plans (IRWMPs), Water Master Plans, Storm Water Resources Plans (SWRP), Urban Water Management Plans (UWMP), Recycled Water Master Plans (RWMP), Salt and Nutrient Management Plans (SNMP), Groundwater Master Plans, and with the passage of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (or SGMA), Groundwater Sustainability Plans (or GSPs). Leslie’s training as a surface water and groundwater hydrologist has focused her vision on the management and use of all types of water as a single entity rather than a siloed resource.
