Water Task Force Meeting
Should we depend on water transfers to offset drought caused water shortages?
Bay Area water utilities report water supply shortages in dry or critically dry drought periods. Water reliability studies identify potential policy direction to offset the impacts. Water transfers from other areas into the Bay Area is typically listed as the most feasible short term solution. But, what are the opportunities and obstacles to effectively transfer water. Stanford University’s Water in the West program provides academic level research on challenging water issues. One such project looked at water transfer issues.
Our returning guest is Newsha Ajami, Director of Urban Water Policy at Stanford University. Dr. Ajami will present their findings of a research project about urban water transfer markets.
