Water Task Force Meeting
EBMUD has approximately 4200 miles of distribution pipelines providing water to approximately 1. 4 million customers. Historically EBMUD has replaced 10 miles of distribution pipe annually (less than 1%). With the pipelines aging and main breaks increasing, EBMUD initiated the Pipeline Rebuild Program to map a path using innovative technologies, materials and strategies to efficiently increase pipeline replacements to 40 miles/year. At build out, this will be the largest capital endeavor the District has implemented with the goal of reducing water loss. This presentation will provide an overview of the innovations EBMUD’s Pipeline Rebuild Program has been piloting, discussing both findings, recommendations and collaborative initiatives with academia including Cornell University.
Our guest will be Ms. Laura Johnson, Manager of Pipeline Construction & Equipment Division for EBMUD. She will also introduce key staff members for the presentation. She is a registered civil engineer with 20 years of experience in various management positions at EBMUD. She is a resident of Alamo and the proud sponsor of 2 recent college graduates from Amherst College, both of which were interns for the East Bay Leadership Council.
Please come and learn how one of our major water utilities is improving our water infrastructure system.
