Infrastructure Task Force: Conversation with Congressman Mark DeSaulnier
We hope you will join us for a multi-faceted conversation on infrastructure challenges and solutions with Congressman Mark DeSaulnier. Congressman DeSaulnier, who serves on the House Committee for Transportation and Infrastructure, is passionate about big solutions to the soul-crushing commutes faced by East Bay workers. He has spoken out in favor of a second Bay crossing and the expansion of passenger rail through the Altamont Corridor, among other significant investments.
We also plan to discuss how new leadership in the federal government may change the direction of transportation investments at a time when transit agencies across the country are struggling with low ridership and extreme financial pressure.
After hearing some opening remarks from the Congressman, we will open the webinar to a moderated Q&A led by the President & CEO of the East Bay Leadership Council, Kristin Connelly.
About Congressman DeSaulnier
For the last five years, Mark DeSaulnier has represented the East Bay in the 11th Congressional District. He is a leader in Congress on issues like guaranteeing a livable wage, affordable and accessible education, and ensuring government is accountable to the public.
Mark is one of only a few Members of Congress who serves on four House committees. During his tenure, he has spearheaded an initiative called the Future of Work, Wages, and Labor to anticipate and address the issues facing our workforce. Mark is working to improve aviation safety and develop innovative solutions to our transportation challenges. He sits on the Oversight and Reform Committee and is part of investigating actions taken by the Trump Administration, and he was selected to serve on the Rules Committee where he has the opportunity to weigh in on major pieces of legislation before they are voted on by the House. Mark also was appointed to the Congressional Progressive Caucus Executive Board.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, Mark attended Holy Cross. He was a small business owner most of his career, including owning and operating TR's restaurant in Concord, the city where he also raised his two sons.
