Health Task Force
Please join EBLC's Health Task Force for a presentation and discussion on the Office of Health Care Affordability (OHCA), a California state agency tasked with monitoring health care costs, analyzing market trends, and setting cost targets to improve affordability, equity, and access within the state’s health care system.
We will be joined by Ben Johnson with the California Hospital Association as he provides a high-level overview of why OHCA was created, its roles and responsibilities, the important decisions it's made and those it will face, and how those decisions impact health care organizations and access to care in the East Bay.
OUR SPEAKER
Ben Johnson is the California Hospital Association's Group Vice President, Financial Policy. Through this role Johnson covers finance and affordability issues, including the Office of Health Care Affordability. Johnson has worked in health care policy and finance for a decade, previously having advised the state legislature through his role at the Legislative Analyst’s Office. He has helped shape statewide policy on issues such as drug pricing, the Medi-Cal budget, health care-related taxes, scope of practice, and single-payer financing.
