Health Task Force
Please join EBLC’s Health Task Force for a discussion on Proposition 44, a statewide ballot measure that would establish new spending requirements for nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). FQHCs are community health centers that provide primary and preventive care to medically underserved communities, including many low-income and uninsured Californians. Prop 44 would require these clinics to spend at least 90% of their annual revenue on qualifying program services, potentially limiting the resources available for other operational needs.
EBLC is opposing Prop 44 out of concern that this requirement could limit investment in the infrastructure necessary for clinics to provide reliable care, including workforce, facilities, technology, training, administrative capacity, and financial reserves. At a time when providers are already facing significant financial pressures, EBLC is concerned that additional constraints could make it more difficult for community health centers to maintain and expand access to care.
We will be joined by representatives from the Alameda Health Consortium to walk us through Prop 44 and explain their concerns about the potential impacts on community health centers and the patients they serve. Don't miss the opportunity to learn more about this critical policy decision with significant implications for East Bay healthcare access.
