Join EBLC's Health Task Force in-person at EBLC's office in Walnut Creek for a meeting focused on the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano’s current policy priorities and the broader landscape shaping hunger relief in our region. The presentation will highlight key California state bills the Food Bank is actively supporting to strengthen the food safety net and improve access to nutritious food, and as well as their long-term, systems-level strategy to end hunger through policy, partnerships, and community-driven solutions. The presentation will also address significant challenges posed by H.R. 1 and ongoing federal funding cuts, including their projected impacts on CalFresh participation, local food providers, and the communities the Food Bank serves, underscoring the critical role of cross-sector collaboration in mitigating these harms.
OUR SPEAKER

Hailey Solares is a policy and advocacy leader dedicated to ending hunger and advancing economic justice. As Advocacy and Policy Manager at the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, she works at the intersection of community need and public policy—partnering with elected officials, agencies, and grassroots advocates to drive solutions that ensure families have consistent access to food. With experience in federal government and a strong foundation in anti-poverty work, Hailey brings both policy expertise and a community-centered approach to her work. She leads initiatives that amplify lived experiences, mobilize advocates, and influence legislation impacting millions of Californians. Beyond her role at the food bank, she serves on the Board of Trinity Center, supporting efforts to serve individuals experiencing homelessness. Hailey is a UC Berkeley alum whose work is grounded in the belief that effective policy must be informed by the communities it aims to serve.
