SUMMARY:Water Task Force Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Please register ASAP - seating is limited.\n\n\n\nFeatured Speaker\n\nFelicia Marcus\, Former Chair of the California State Water Resources Board \n\n\n\nMs. Marcus will provide us with an overview of the ongoing San Francisco Bay/Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Estuary (Bay-Delta) Watershed efforts. Her discussion will include the Phase I and Phase II Plan Amendments and other watershed and water quality efforts under the Water Board's jurisdiction. This important plan establishes water quality control measures and flow requirements needed to provide reasonable protection of beneficial uses in the watershed.\n\n\n\nThe Bay-Delta Plan is being updated through two separate processes (Plan amendments). The first Plan amendment is focused on San Joaquin River flows and southern Delta salinity. The second Plan amendment is focused on the Sacramento River and its tributaries\, Delta eastside tributaries (including the Calaveras\, Cosumnes\, and Mokelumne rivers)\, Delta outflows\, and interior Delta flows.\n\n \n\n\nAbout the Education Series\n\nWater Task Force is pleased to announce an educational series that is focused on the two-part flow setting process being implemented by the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) for the San Francisco Bay Delta. The goal of this series is to educate our members on this important process and stakeholder perspectives. We encourage attendance and interaction with the speakers who are playing very important roles in the process. According to the SWRCB website Fact Sheet "The two Bay-Delta Plan updates are part of a delicate balancing act addressing an ecological crisis in the watershed and preventing further collapse of Bay-Delta fisheries while acknowledging the other vital water uses for millions of Californians." \n\n\n\nMonday\, March 11 PLEASE NOTE SPECIAL DATE\n\nSpeaker: Felicia Marcus\, Former Chair of the California State Water Resources Board \n\n\n\n\n\nTuesday\, April 16 Bay Area Water Agency Perspectives\n\nSpeakers: Alex Coate\, General Manager of East Bay Municipal Utilities District (EBMUD) and\n\nMichael Carlin\, Deputy General Manager/Chief Operating Officer of San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC)\n\n\n\n\n\nTuesday\, June 18 Environmental\, Fisheries and Delta Perspectives\n\nSpeakers: Doug Obegi\, Director\, California River Restoration\, Water Division\, Nature Program\, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and Joan Buchanan\, President of Restore the Delta
