DESCRIPTION:Please join EBLC's Water\, Energy\, & Environment Task Force for a discussion on emerging research into 6PPD-quinone (6PPDQ)\, a chemical formed from vehicle tire wear that has been shown to be highly toxic to salmon and other sensitive aquatic species. The chemical is so toxic to coho salmon that just half a drop diluted in an Olympic-sized swimming pool would be lethal. And while coho salmon are no longer found in the SF Bay\, scientists have determined that steelhead populations in the Bay are also vulnerable to 6PPDQ's effects.\n\nWe will hear from scientists with the Regional Monitoring Program for Water Quality in San Francisco Bay (RMP) about the latest research on how 6PPDQ enters Bay waterways\, its impacts on local fish populations\, and the data being developed to help inform policies and strategies to reduce pollution.
