SUMMARY:Opportunity Task Force: COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout
DESCRIPTION:Join the East Bay Leadership Council's (EBLC) Opportunity Task Force as we discuss the COVID-19 vaccine and its rollout in the East Bay.\n\n\n\nDr. Russ D. Granich\, Chief Medical Officer for Hospice East Bay\, will provide insight into the science of these vaccines including their swift creation and how they will protect us from COVID-19. Dan Peddycord\, Director of Public Health for Contra Costa County\, will give us an overview of the vaccine rollout locally and the county's perspective on future distribution. EBLC Board Member\, Rebecca Rozen of the Hospital Council\, will also be on hand to share how our hospitals are handling the vaccination of their workforce and their plans as we forge ahead.\n\n\n\nAbout our Speakers\n\nDr. Russ Granich currently serves as Chief Medical Officer for Hospice of the East Bay and Palliative Care of the East Bay.  He retired from Kaiser Permanente in 2018 where he served as the Chief of Geriatrics\, Community Based Medicine\, Hospice and Palliative Care at SSF KP as well as Physician Lead for Nursing Homes\, Home Health and Eldercare for all of Northern California KP.  He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Hospice & Palliative Medicine.  He was president of the San Mateo County Medical Association and now serves on the Council of the Alameda Contra Costa Medical Association.  His accolades include a resolution in the California State Legislature for exemplary leadership and a leadership award from the Coalition for Compassionate Care of California.\n\n\n\nDan Peddycord\, R.N.\, MPA/HA\, joined the Contra Costa County Health Services team as Director of Public Health in the summer of 2015 with nearly 20 years of executive leadership experience.  He formerly led the Santa Clara County Health Department and prior to that served as the Public Health Director in Deschutes County\, Oregon. Dan is adept a building organizational infrastructure and community partnerships as well as conveying the value of population-based strategies for improving community health.\n\n\n\nHe is skilled at leveraging public and organizational policy as a strategy to advance health improvement and close gaps in health disparity. A native of the Pacific Northwest\, Dan grew up in the greater Seattle area\, is an outdoor enthusiast and believes that family\, friends\, colleagues and community are at the heart of good health and wellness.
