Water Task Force Update

The Water Task Force’s Bay-Delta education series continued April 16th with a presentation from two large local water and wastewater agencies. Alex Coate, General Manager of East Bay Municipal Utilities District and Michael Carlin, Deputy General Manager/Chief Operating Officer of San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, shared their thoughts on the State’s Lower San Joaquin River Water Quality Control Plan. The San Francisco Public Utilities District expressed concerns about the State’s proposal and its potential impacts on water supply in times of drought. Similarly, the East Bay Municipal Utilities District, which relies on the Mokelumne River, has concerns about the impact of the proposal to supply reliability and customer rationing.

Both organizations are working on Voluntary Agreements that might provide alternatives to the state’s proposal. To read more about these agreements and the agencies take on the Lower San Joaquin River Water Quality Control Plan visit the presentations tab, here.
