Healthcare Task Force Update

In August, the Healthcare Task Force invited staff from We Care Services for Children (We Care) to present on intervention and prevention with infant-family and early childhood mental health.

Kelly Ransom, Mental Health Director for We Care, explained brain development during early childhood and the important work being done around adverse childhood experiences (ACES) and their impact. ACES are childhood experiences that can lead to stress-related diseases and deficits in learning and behavior. The 2019 state budget included funding for ACES screening. The Healthcare Task Force then discussed Mental Health Act Funding and how to best support and raise awareness about the importance of childhood mental health.

Presentations can be found on the Healthcare Task Force page.
