Join the EBLC’s Water and Environment Task Force for a discussion with Pablo Garza, Chief Consultant to the California State Assembly Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee. A committee chaired by our local assemblymember, Rebecca Bauer-Kahan.
We will discuss the role of committees in the law-making process and look at some of the proposed legislation making its way to the Assembly Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee this year. This is a great opportunity to learn about water and environment bills and our state legislative process.
About our Speaker:
Mr. Garza has more than 17 years’ experience working in and around the California State Legislature. He is currently the Chief Consultant for the Committee on Water, Parks, and Wildlife. This role marks a return to the State Assembly where he began his career in public policy. As Chief Consultant to the Committee, he oversees the analysis of legislation in the Committee’s jurisdiction, works with the Committee members and staff to identify relevant policy issues for further investigation through informational/oversight hearings, and advises the Chair of the Committee on policy issues related to the Committee’s jurisdiction.
Prior to becoming the Chief Consultant, Pablo advocated on natural resource and water policy issues on behalf of the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) as Political Director for its California Ecosystems Program and, before that, as the Associate Director, State Policy & External Affairs for the Nature Conservancy (TNC).
