Infrastructure Task Force Meeting: Discussion with Councilmember John Bauters
Please join the East Bay Leadership Council's Infrastructure Task Force for a wide-ranging discussion with Emeryville City Councilmember John Bauters on key corridor improvements and the future of transportation, infrastructure, and goods movement in the East Bay. Bauters will have key regional insights to share as he currently serves as the Chair of the Alameda County Transportation Commission.
The event will include a brief presentation followed by a Q&A.

John J. Bauters is a Councilmember and the former Mayor of Emeryville. In addition to serving on the Emeryville City Council since 2016, he serves as Chair of the Alameda County Transportation Commission and was the Chair of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District from 2022-2023.
He has been a leader on sustainable land use, affordable housing development, environmental justice, urban conservationism, and economic policies that support equitable, people-oriented communities. In these roles, he championed Emeryville?s $50 million affordable housing bond, which is being used to add hundreds of affordable, infill homes for low-income families, seniors, transition-aged youth, and people experiencing homelessness; he is regarded as a statewide expert on transportation policy and a member of the National League of Cities Federal Advocacy Committee, and has helped secure millions in grant funding for transportation and goods movement projects in Alameda County; and has partnered with development and business stakeholders to diversify Emeryville?s local economy, making it one of the most desirable East Bay communities for business.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government and International Studies from the University of Notre Dame and his law degree from Boston College Law School. In his full-time work he is a victims advocate and policy director, writing and lobbying legislation on behalf of crime survivors.
