Please join the East Bay Leadership Council for the third and final event in the 2024 Leadership Series. Part 3 will feature Tani Cantil-Sakauye, President & CEO of the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC) and former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of California.
Cantil-Sakauye served as the 28th Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court. She was the first Asian-Filipina American and second woman to ever serve in that role. Prior to becoming Chief Justice, she had a career of over 20 years in the California trial and appellate courts, focusing much of her effort on domestic violence cases. In 2008 she was appointed to the Judicial Council of California where she served as chair of the Advisory Committee on Financial Accountability and Efficiency for the Judicial Branch and as a member of the Domestic Violence Practice and Procedure Task Force, among other committees. Cantil-Sakauye earned her J.D. at the UC Davis, Martin Luther King, Jr., School of Law.
After retiring as Chief Justice in 2022, Cantil-Sakauye joined PPIC as their President & CEO, where she leads PPIC's efforts to improve public policy in California through objective research. During her time with us Cantil-Sakauye will discuss her work at the Public Policy Institute of California and provide timely insights into California law and policy.
