Leading the way to Philanthropy

The San Francisco Giants and Oakland Athletics may have squared off in a Battle for Bay Area bragging rights this weekend, but the real bragging rights belong to the community-minded members of the East Bay Leadership Council.

Last week, the San Francisco Business Times compiled their list of the 83 top Bay Area philanthropists for the year and EBLC members accounted for more than $67 million worth of donations.

To be considered, the companies submitted information on their philanthropy efforts to the local business newspaper.

Once all was counted, Chevron and Wells Fargo both gave back more than $20 million each to lead the pack of generous EBLC members including: PG&E ($12.2 million), Bank of America ($8.5 million), Safeway ($4.4 million), and Morrison and Foerster ($1.2 million).

Also making the list was City National Bank, Summit State Bank, and Presidio Bank whose combined donations reached nearly $1 million.

As an organization dedicated to highlighting the culture of philanthropy in the East Bay, the Council is thrilled to represent employers who are not only committed to economic vitality, but who also prioritize giving back to the community.

Continuing this recognition of extraordinary East Bay philanthropy, the Council is proud to be hosting our Fifth Annual Philanthropy Awards Breakfast at the Blackhawk Automotive Museum on November 12 with the deadline for nominations of September 4, 2015.

The awards are open to individuals and organizations that make generous contributions through financial support, in-kind donations, or volunteer efforts to benefit the region. 

The East Bay is not in short supply of community-minded leaders, businesses, or service organizations worthy of our recognition, so be sure to nominate them for the Philanthropy Awards today.
