Housing Task Force Update
The East Bay Leadership Council Housing Task Force met on Tuesday, February 26th for a presentation and discussion of the CASA Compact. Representatives from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) were on hand to present the CASA Compact’s proposals, answer questions and explain next steps.
Beginning in 2017, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) convened a group of identified stakeholders to discuss possible solutions to the Bay Area’s housing crisis. The resulting policy proposals, referred to as the CASA Compact, was constructed over an 18-month period and was organized around three principle desired outcomes:
- Increasing housing production at all levels of affordability
- Preserving existing affordable housing
- Protecting vulnerable households from housing instability and displacement.
